"With a construction grant award from the New Jersey State Library, my Board of Trustees and I selected and worked with Ed Arcari and Anthony Iovino from start to finish to renovate an existing structure in town and turn it into a destination that became both library and community gathering place. Mr. Iovino worked closely with me to create an efficient and beautiful storefront library making every inch of our 5,000 square feet count. He ‘held my hand’ through the entire process and always made himself available. The project came in on time, on budget, and to rave reviews. From their first renderings to the day we cut the ribbon, Arcari + Iovino were there for us in every way. I’ve since moved on to be the Library Services Director for the Bergen County Cooperative Library System (bccls.org), a consortium of 75 public libraries in northern New Jersey, and continue to see their work throughout BCCLS and New Jersey and continue to hear nothing but positive things about these two professionals and their innovative work."
Arlene Sahraie - Library Services Director – BCCLS, Bergen County Cooperative Library System, Hackensack, NJ
"Congratulations to you and your team on being awarded the Firm of the Year by the AIA New Jersey Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Given the quality of your firm's work, this is a well deserved recognition. Congratulations again."
Gregg A. Padovano – Beattie Padovano, LLC, Counselors at Law, Montvale, NJ
"Arcari & Iovino have been working for the Borough for several years now. Whether it is the architectural design of a new public safety complex or the input on the installation of windows at the Ambulance Corps, Anthony Iovino and his staff are always responsive, professional and provide the highest quality work product. What I enjoy about working with Anthony is that he is an excellent sounding board. He listens and then provides thoughtful and insightful input. This listening and understanding is then reflected in his design. Arcari & Iovino provides for all of our architectural needs. We have retained the firm as the Borough Architect so that we can reach out to them at any time on building issues and get the benefit of their input. This relationship has been very beneficial to the Borough."
Gregory C. Hart - Borough Administrator – Borough of Franklin Lakes, NJ
"We have worked with Arcari + Iovino for a few years to arrive at plans for an addition and complete renovation of our library. Our building is older (1917 and 1958 addition) and the property is very challenging to reconfigure. It has narrow constraints and little room for expansion. Mr. Iovino impressed us early on with his creative vision of what the library could become in the 21st century. He knows how to capture the best of the historical aspect of the building while adding new dimensions needed for contemporary services.
Anthony has worked with us on a few different plans for the library, including two off site involving the renovation of an existing building; and construction of an entire new library. As noted, he has also worked on several versions of renovating our present library and building an addition for handicapped access. During the time we have worked with him, Anthony and his associates have proven to be talented, very creative, extremely knowledgeable about how public libraries operate, and resourceful. He has met with our Library Board, staff and municipal officials on several occasions. He is gifted in presenting complex information to varied audiences while leading group sessions. His sense of humor is delightful. He proves to be very responsive to the wishes of the stakeholders in spite of the very definite constraints of space and limited finances. In sessions that the public attended, feedback was also favorable about Anthony’s ability to present effectively and be responsive to feedback. He has proven to be a good listener and is a pleasure to work with.
Mr. Iovino’s costs were notably lower than some of his peers in the NJ architectural community. Mr. Iovino has done considerable NJ library construction and it shows. In the many libraries that we visited that his firm had built or renovated, there were innovative features and all were aesthetically pleasing, flexible, and practical in the changing world of technology. He truly offers personalized service in a very effective manner. We look forward to finalizing our plans and moving the library into its second hundred years of service to the community with Anthony Iovino’s help and professionalism."
Susan Briant - Library Director – Haddonfield Public Library, Past President NJ Library Association, Haddonfield, NJ
"From the early stage of the project, Arcari + Iovino Architects made sure to solicit the Fire Department's input. They paid careful attention to our needs and to the way our Fire Department operates. They subsequently designed a fire station that not only conformed to the latest NFPA standards, but was also ergonomically functional with an emphasis on firefighter wellness. Arcari + Iovino Architects were also able to creatively design a firehouse that was modern and also able to blend in seamlessly with the other public buildings in the area. This new fire station is state of the art and will serve the Township of Holmdel and its residents for many years to come."
Eric Hernando - Holmdel Township Police Department – Holmdel Township Fire Department, Holmdel Township, New Jersey
In response to our recent Architectural Firm of the Year by AIA New Jersey award.
"It is always gratifying when the award comes from your peers in the profession. Your award is well-deserved as we have witnessed with your professional work on the Library addition, “picking up of the pieces” at the Senior Center and your ongoing design work for the Lower Level of the Municipal Building."
Wayne Hamilton - Business Administrator – Monroe Township, NJ
"I have had the good fortune to work with Arcari + Iovino in two different libraries. My experience has been incredibly positive in both locations. Projects in public libraries are often long, drawn-out processes, as funding matters depend on our township’s schedule and the makeup of the council. Anthony Iovino has always been pleasant, accommodating and patient when I had to ask him to readjust the scope of the projects to conform to the latest need of the Board of Trustees and the Council. He does an excellent job presenting concepts to the Board and public in a manner that can be understood by the average citizen. His designs are economical and usable. He is very honest about matching expectations to budgetary restrictions, and his extensive experience working with libraries means he grasps the workflow and needs of the librarian as well as the public user. Many of my colleagues have also used Arcari + Iovino for their architectural needs; and universally, all agree that the firm is responsive and attentive to the entire process from early focus group involvement through design, bidding and the crucial, actual building of the finished project."
Meg Kolaya - Past Director – Scotch Plains Public Library, Scotch Plains, NJ
"We have enjoyed working with Arcari + Iovino for over two decades on several projects. We find that they are especially sensitive to non-profit organizations such as ours with their patience, flexibility, cost control awareness and empathy for our organization's mission. In all of our encounters with Arcari and Iovino they were the utmost in professionalism, creativity, attention to detail and timeliness. They specialize in the ability to listen to client's needs - especially clients who want to be seen as partners in the design and production process. They never patronize or condescend and are always available within hours, sometimes minutes, of needing a response or answer to a question.
We are completely satisfied with Arcari + Iovino's product and would recommend them without reservation."
Rev. Marsh Luther Drege - Pastor and Executive Director – Seafarers & International, New York, NY
"Imagine undertaking a building project that combines beautiful responsive design with a team that hears the client and gets you to the finish line with your sanity intact. Think of the architectural firm of Arcari + Iovino and then stop by the South River Library to view such a project. The highlight of our project is our Adult Reading area that is love at first sight."
Andrea Londensky - Past Director – South River Public Library, South River, NJ
"Arcari + Iovino, Architects have been our architectural firm for over 17 years at the College. Their amazing work has included new administrative buildings, athletic facilities, residence halls, a library and other key renovation projects. This work has resulted from their Master Plan for the College that continues to be updated as we envision the future. The leaders of the firm listen to the constituent voices at the College, are creative in their responses, work easily with our construction firms, and are attentive throughout each project. The quality of their work is outstanding with each project finished on-time and within budget. Our latest administrative building secured Silver LEED status. I highly recommend Arcari + Iovino."
Dr. Margaret Fitzpatrick, S.C., Ed.D. - President – St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, NY
"The Board expressed their gratitude to you (Anthony Iovino) and said that hiring you was the best move they made"
Susan Permahos - Director – Summit Free Public Library, Summit, NJ
"The design and construction of a state-of-the-art police facility is an extremely complex and challenging project. In 2012, the new Tenafly Police Headquarters was opened, designed and implemented by Arcari + Iovino. With a variety of areas that have drastically different uses and varying levels of access and security, the team of Anthony Iovino and Joe Frangiosa made it come together seamlessly. There are numerous state and federal mandates and requirements for evidence storage, weapons and ammunition areas, interview and interrogation rooms, cellblocks and prisoner transport areas. From the open access lobby to the most secure inner areas, every inch of our facility was designed with an emphasis on safety and security combined with efficiency and convenience.
From the early draft designs to the final working plans, Anthony and Joe brought innovative design concepts to the table while constantly making adjustments based on my seemingly endless input and requests, tailoring the design to meet all of our specific needs. Their expertise and experience combined with outstanding communication skills and patience made the entire experience a pleasant one, from start to finish.
I had seen their work on other projects within the Borough but having the opportunity to actually work together with them on this project gave me the utmost respect for their talent, professionalism and genuine concern to deliver exactly what I was seeking in a new headquarters. I give Arcari + Iovino my highest recommendation for any agency seeking to create a modern police facility that will exceed all of your expectations."
Chief Michael Bruno, Ret. – Tenafly Police Department, Tenafly, NJ
"Throughout our project, the good people at Arcari + Iovino always made themselves available to field our questions, were prompt and thorough in all communications and eager to work with us to solve problems with creative solutions. Their creative insights provided us with a space that is visually appealing and very functional."
Monsignor Robert S. Meyer - Pastor – The Church of St. Peter and Paul, NJ
"Selecting an Architect to add significant space on two sides of an existing building was daunting. Anthony Iovino acknowledged the challenge, spent time listening to our hopes, dreams and concerns and presented us with a building that is seamless. You cannot tell where the old and new join. Not a person comes into this building without remarking on the beauty, wedded with the workability, of this space. Add to that the fact that the project held to the calendar, and came in under cost estimates! We credit this success to the ease of working with the firm. Staff took time to ask questions, rework concepts and always listen to our needs. This could not have been a more positive experience."
